Rivers Casino Plans to Expand Des Plaines Casino and go for a New Casino License

The owner of Rivers Casino is going to expand its largest casino, Des Plaines casino and opt for a new casino license in the near future. Churchill Downs, the Louisville-based casino owner has informed the Illinois Gaming Board that it is will extend the casino’s gaming positions from 1,200 to 2,000.

Bill Carstanjen, the CEO of Churchill Downs said the company is planning to increase the casino’s footprint and invest additional funds to support the expansion with the use of debt financing at Rivers. As per the new gambling expansion law of Illinois, the maximum gaming positions of the casino can stand up to 2000.

At the end of the June month, Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the gambling expansion bill into law in order to bring an additional $350 million in annual state revenue. In addition to this, the law was introduced to contribute to the growth of various casino operators in Illinois. Other than this, the new casino will provide the opening of the new casinos in Chicago, Waukegan, the south suburbs, Rockford, Danville, and Williamson County in southern Illinois.
